Culinary Arts Pathway
Are you an organized creative that’s passionate about food?
Culinary Arts prepares students for an entry-level career as a chef, baker, cake decorator, or for further study in hospitality. Many of the careers require more training at the post-secondary level or on-the-job, yet this program is a vibrant and educational jumping-off point.
Skills you'll learn
Food & kitchen safety
Learn how to store and handle food, utensils, and equipment in the kitchen.
Food prep
Prepare ingredients and recipes with proper measurements, cutting techniques, and cooking methods.
Baking
Work with bread, pastries, and desserts, including decorative work and high-volume production.
Menu design
Learn how to plan a menu, price ingredients, and manage costs to create a menu.
Educational outcomes
- Student chefs earn the National Restaurant Association’s ProStart Certification
- Students can continue education with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts
