Welding Technology Pathway
Are you a steady hand with an eye for detail?
Welding is an excellent opportunity to learn skills necessary for good-paying jobs in industrial, construction, or agricultural fields. People with welding skills are in high demand due to a shortage of welders from the quickly retiring workforce.
Skills you'll learn
Thermal cutting
Learn oxy-fuel, plasma and air carbon arc gouging, shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding, and more.
Blueprint reading
Understand how to interpret the different types of welds and their symbols on manufacturing blueprints.
CNC machines
Learn basic CAD programming for CNC plasma tables.
Proper safety techniques
Gain knowledge on how to protect yourself from overexposure to gases, fire, and other physical hazards.
Educational outcomes
- The 2-year Welding program is taught according to the American Welding Society (AWS) objectives and participate in the Schools Excelling through National Skill Standards Education (SENSE).
- Students to obtain a nationally recognized certification upon successful completion of the program, as well as a member of the SRTC AWS Student Chapter of the American Welding Society.
